Hepworth March On!
A clean sweep at the Red Admiral Hymn & March Contest brings another highly successful march contest season to a close.
Awards for the best hymn tune and contest march earned the band 1st place overall, with adjudicator Danny Brooks praising the bands performance as being of “super quality playing”.
It follows on from a rewarding Whit Friday around the villages of Saddleworth, with 1st prize at Denshaw, Lees & Springhead, 2nd prize at Diggle, Dobcross, Grotton, 3rd prizes at Scouthead, Uppermill, 4th prize at Greenfield and 6th at Lydgate, together with a number of soloist awards, earning the band 3rd place overall.
A really big thank you to friends of the band Clive Berry and Matthew Broadbent for generously sponsoring the coach for the evening.
Our season of march contests openned with a successful day at the Travellers Rest, Meltham March Contest winning the hymn tune and contest march with awards for the best basses, euphonium and 1st place overall.
The band also won the Darwen and Morley March & Hymn Tune Contests and were runners up at the Hebden Bridge contest, making it one of our most successful march contest seasons ever!
Huge congratulations to all the players, and thank you to all the organisers, volunteers, and supporters who’ve made this year’s march contest season such a success.
