Marching with Hepworth!

An almost clean sweep at the Brighouse Lions March & Hymn Tune Contest brings a successful march contest season to a close.

Awards for the best trombones on the road march, best bass section, best soprano cornet, best principal cornet, best soloist, first place for the hymn tune and contest march earned the band 1st place overall and the award for the winning conductor.

It follows on from a rewarding Whit Friday with prizes at Delph, Greenfield, Grotton and Scouthead together with a number of soloist awards and 5th place overall; a successful day in the sunshine at the Travellers Rest, Meltham March Contest winning the hymn tune and contest march with awards for the best basses, euphonium, solo cornet and 1st place overall; and a little damp but equally enjoyable day at Hebden Bridge March & Hymn Tune Contest, with awards for best basses, hymn tune and contest march, taking 1st place overall.

A big thank you to everyone who came along to listen and support the band and to all the contest organisers and helpers who work so hard to make these events such a success.
