The band welcomes Claire Taylor as its new principal cornet

The Hepworth band is delighted to welcome Claire Taylor as its new principal cornet.

Claire is no stranger to Hepworth having being assistant principal cornet during a highly successful period before taking the principal cornet seat with Thoresby Colliery band and more recently being assistant principal cornet with Grimethorpe Colliery band.

Welcoming Claire to Hepworth, Director of Music Ryan Watkins said "Claire brings a wealth of talent and musicianship to the band, having helped the band out over the last few months. She has made an instant impact and with the bags of experience and quality that she brings with her, I am delighted that Claire has signed as our new Principal Cornet.”

Claire said "I am very excited to be working with Hepworth band again, a fantastic group of people and some wonderful sounds coming from the bandroom. Having departed in 2010 following the birth of my son, it is lovely to see many familiar faces and I look forward to what 2023 will bring for the band under Ryan’s excellent guiding hand.”

Claire makes her debut as principal cornet at the bands "New Year Celebration Concert" in Christ Church, New Mill, Holmfirth later this month before leading the band at the Yorkshire Regional Championships in March.
